CREATING STORY AND BRINGING OTHERS INTO THE MAGIC.
One of my earliest memories is leaning in for a “close up” at my grandmother’s bathroom mirror - hands covered in bubbles - reenacting soap commercials I had seen on TV.
It’s probably no surprise, then, that my youth was spent circling up neighborhood kids to enact stories, playing piano, dancing in a ballet company and eventually performing on many stages.
It is always valuable to look back and see the roots of our creative passions and experiences. Here are a few more of mine…
After graduating college with double majors in Theatre and English, my professional creative journey began in the worlds of advertising and the Christian music industry, doing research, publicity, copywriting and marketing. This is a foundation for which I have always been grateful; delivering the right message to your target audience in a 30-second commercial is valuable training.
In 1982 my first daughter was born, and two and a half years later we welcomed our second girl. We were over the moon with these two precious little ones!
During this season I began writing choral musicals for Paragon Publishing and Meadowgreen Publishing (distributed by Word Entertainment), as well as doing freelance PR work for Priority Records. I was also writing/directing stage and video for a variety of organizations, including Leadership Nashville, Creative People, Inc., and Nightingale Theater, and serving as a teaching artist in many schools for the Nashville Institute of the Arts.
As the mother of two young girls, juggling so many creative projects was both rewarding and challenging, and I knew I wanted to prioritize being fully present to pour into them. So, in 1991 when I was invited to become the Founding Artistic Director at a fast-growing Christian school in Franklin, Tennessee – with the promise of a flexible schedule – it felt like a match made in heaven.
For the next thirty years I lived and breathed in the wonder of pioneering a multi-faceted educational program of music, theatre, dance, media arts and visual arts.
From writing original screenplays to building a team of outstanding professionals and directing a range of K-12 classes and performances, my work at Christ Presbyterian Academy was a thrilling tenure that culminated in overseeing the development of a multi-million-dollar arts facility, The Soli Deo Center.
During this time, I also had the joy of seeing my adaptation of A Christmas Carol professionally produced three times, with
the final production included in the Series for Young People at the renowned Tennessee Performing Arts Center (TPAC).
In 2022, after thirty years, more than one hundred productions, thousands of students served, and countless lessons learned, I felt the Lord leading me into a new season of stewarding my gifts in a different way. So with a solid successor in place, I said goodbye to my extended CPA family and stepped into the great unknown.
These days, after four decades of acting, directing and writing for stage, screen, music and worship, my primary focus is helping other creatives like YOU thrive as you employ the arts to make a difference in this world.
Whether you’re an educator, artist, musician, worship leader or invest your creativity in other ways, it is my joy to walk alongside you as you grow in your craft, both professionally and personally.
Along the way, I’m still creating new things too. Because creativity isn’t something we ever grow out of.
It’s who we were made to be.

THE BEST STORIES COME FROM HOME
No matter where I am or what I am doing, my truest heart-line is there’s no place like home.
On that note, my left-brained, engineer-turned-marketing-rep husband never ceases to astound me with his giving heart and wise ways, not to mention the balance he brings to my creative flurry!
I am also thrilled to get to share life with my two artistic, vibrant, generous daughters, and beloved sons-in-law (both great cooks and a fantastic mix of the right and left brains!).
Of course, reading books, watching plays and movies, imaginative adventures and trips to ice cream and coffee shops with my five amazing “grands” really do make my heart’s story of home the grandest of all!
